There is a lot of information out there on this but to sum it up - if an oscilloscope or audio analyzer doesn't detect a difference, then there isn't one. Component material in a guitar pedal, where voltage and current are so low, doesn't affect anything intentionally - it's more related to variances due to tolerance. But, if you're after mojo, I completely understand. And, in guitar amplifiers with high voltage and current, that's a different story.
